“I initially came to Spain to study at a local university but as life would have it, ended up meeting my current partner. As my student visa came to an end, my partner and I decided to get a pareja de hecho/civil partnership to allow me to stay in the country which would grant me residency. Switching visa types is always a complicated process, especially since the regulations change depending on your autonomous community, and we decided to consult legal advice.
